Release Date: 04-17-2020Bangor and Presque Isle, Maine — After a spring nor’easter last week quickly followed by a wind storm earlier this week, Emera Maine would like to offer our sincere gratitude to our customers for their patience and support throughout our restoration efforts. With many Mainers abiding by the “stay healthy at home” protocols and the Easter holiday, we recognize this has been a particularly difficult time to be without power. After the nor’easter brought heavy, wet snow, our restoration was affected by heavy rain and high winds as we also experienced additional outages from the wind storm. In response, our dedicated team stayed the course, adapting our response to prioritize public safety, repair the worst damage from the nor’easter, and restore those lines bringing the largest numbers of customers online first. We also worked with individual customers in situations where they needed an electrician to perform repairs before they could be reconnected. Through the course of our restoration effort, more than 100,000 outages were addressed. ”On behalf of Emera Maine, I want to express our gratitude for all the support from customers and local businesses who stepped up to provide words of encouragement, lunches and housing to our team members,” said Mike Herrin, President and Chief Operating Officer of Emera Maine. “Your support was deeply appreciated as our team stayed focused on safely restoring service to our neighbors as quickly as possible while dealing with some difficult weather and the resulting damage. This significant effort was made possible due to the care and dedication of our committed team along with our valued contractors and partner utilities who sent additional crews to aid in the restoration efforts.” Saturday, April 18, is National Lineman Appreciation Day. We are thankful for and proud of our dedicated team members who worked tirelessly to complete this restoration, and have received a number of thoughtful calls and notes from customers expressing gratitude for their hard work in difficult conditions. We can’t think of a more appropriate time to #ThankALineman, and encourage our customers to join us in recognizing their efforts. _ _ _ Emera Maine is committed to delivering safe, reliable electric service.
