Commitment to the Community

Emera Maine is committed to the communities where we do business. Our United Way employee campaign is consistently rated among the highest of any company in eastern and Northern Maine, typically raising in excess of $130,000 annually, including the corporate match.

Emera Maine Community Commitment

Our employees generously give to many non-profit causes through their time as well as financially. Among the events and activities our employees take part in each year:

  • March of Dimes – March for Babies
  • Susan G. Komen – Race for the Cure
  • Champion the Cure Challenge
  • Bangor Humane Society – Paws on Parades
  • Bangor Land Trust – Pedal the Penobscot
  • American Cancer Society – Relay for Life

In addition, many of our team members give of their time and expertise to a variety of boards and committees which serve not-for-profit organizations throughout our region. These include:

Emera Maine Community Involvement
  • Bangor Y
  • United Way of Eastern Maine
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters
  • Ronald McDonald House of Bangor
  • Food AND Medicine
  • Junior Achievement of Maine
  • Eastern Maine Medical Center Auxiliary

Finally, the company endorses several worthy activities throughout the year such as a Thanksgiving turkey drive, and a holiday toy drive for Hands of Hope and the Salvation Army Angel Tree. All told, between corporate contributions, gifts-in-kind, gifts of services, and more, Emera Maine and its employees donate more than a half million dollars annually to the people and communities we serve.
