Emera Maine prepares for second November snowstorm to hit Maine in less than a week

Release Date:  11-06-2014

Bangor, ME — Emera Maine’s Storm Response Team is keeping a close eye on another winter storm that’s expected to bring several inches of heavy snow to northern Maine Thursday night and all day Friday. The utility is readying trucks, stock and appropriate personnel as we prepare for the possibility of power outages in our Maine Public District.

“The storm is expected to have the greatest impact in northern Maine during the day Friday,” said Lisa Martin, Manager of Line & Meter Operations. “While our crews continue their work on hard-hit areas like Hancock and Penobscot Counties, we are making arrangements to ensure all areas of our service territory have appropriate coverage.”

As always customers are reminded to stay clear of fallen power lines and trees near or touching them. Locating account numbers in advance and programming the Customer Service Center phone number into cell phones can help speed up the reporting process. Anyone using alternate heat sources and generators is reminded to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines.

The Storm Response Team will continue to monitor the storm’s track and modify staffing plans as needed.
